Sometimes Mac acts likes Windows operating system with annoying popups. Whenever I open iTunes it pop-ups “iTunes Store session has expired” message. Even when you click “Cancel” button it keeps on popping up. It’s really annoying and let’s see how to fix this pop up message in iTunes Music player.
How to Fix “iTunes Store Session has Expired” Popup?
This popup usually occurs for users who cancelled their Apple Music subscription or iTunes Match subscription. The fix is pretty simple:
- Open iTunes Music player
- The moment you open the iTunes a pop up error message gets displayed i.e “Your iTunes Store session has expired”.
- Click Cancel on the prompt. If it appears again, just keep clicking Cancel.
- Goto iTunes Menu bar and select “Account”.
- Select your account name, and click Sign Out.
- Quit iTunes.
- Reopen iTunes.
- This fixes the popup message.
- Click Sign In (where your name used to be) and log in with your Apple ID.

Argh!! But there is no “Account” menu item on my iTunes! (A Yosemite thing?)
There must be another way to sign out from the iTunes account in the absence of an “Account” menu item… because the popup is driving me crazy…. but sadly I cannot find a solution anywhere.
Thank you
the message is gone 🙂
Brilliant! Thank you
It worked, thank you
Why would I want to sign in to iTunes. I do not like to use the service. I just want to get red of the pop up. So according to this article the fix is to sign in, what a joke.
This may be a security issue possibly with network:
I have gotten this popup twice in the last two days
as well as a suspicious pop up to log in from non
Apple related site. It came up twice and wouldn’t
abate the second time until I switched to another
radio station from the one I was streaming at the
time. Another radio station did play. I left it for
some hours and then switched back to the original
and it played fine.
I have the iTunes store disabled.
I can sign in or out on my laptop, but it won’t let me sign out on my iPhone 6s and it won’t let me connect to the app store. I tried resetting the network settings and restoring the settings as well.
Thank you! finally it works
