Not everyone is great at taking tests, and that’s okay, I know I was never what you’d call a grade A student. The driver’s test can be especially stressful simply because so much depends on the outcome. If you don’t pass it, then there is no telling when you will be able to drive by yourself. Luckily, there are tons of way you can make it easier. And no, I’m not talking about cheating. I like to think I’m an enthusiastic app user as whenever I face a problem, I search for an app that might help. So naturally, I started looking for apps that might help with the DMV test. After some hefty Internet research, I stumbled upon a top 10 list of supposedly best DMV Test apps on a site called AppGrooves.
Best 10 DMV Test Prep Apps by AppGrooves
I picked a couple of them I’ll list below.
Learn State Laws with DMV Permit Practice Test 2018
One thing that might come as a surprise to you is that every state has its own set of driving laws. I know it surprised me. I mean, it’s driving, what could be so much different? It turns out there’s a lot of nitpicking when it comes to different states and that’s where I believe this app helps.
It has practice tests for every state, ensuring that you are taking the right one and learning the right stuff. It would be a disaster if you studied for Vermont’s test when you live in Texas because the two states have very different laws. Not only would you be learning to drive unsafely, you would also probably fail the test when the time came to take it. So if you want to create a bit of extra security for yourself, I think this app could really help.
I also found the app simulates the real test quite well, which was a great surprise. I also like the simple design which allows you to easily focus on the questions and learning. They have a pretty decent question database although I wish there was a bit more. But considering they had to categorize questions based on states, I understand the effort that had to go into making the app.
Have Fun Learning the Laws with DMV Permit Practice Test 2018 Edition
Nobody really enjoys studying, now do they? Maybe some do, but the vast majority of people think that it is pretty boring, I included. This app caters to these people by turning learning into a fun game! Granted, all three apps are created in a way to make the experience enjoyable, but this one takes it a small step further, at least for me. The design is what won me over. You progress through the levels as the questions get harder and harder, and just like in a video game, you win by reaching the final level. The more questions you get right, the higher your score.
So it’s just like a test, but more fun thanks to the game aspect! This app might just help even the worst studiers ace the final test when that time comes, and then you can have fun driving to wherever you want! So yeah, if you’re having trouble with putting those brain muscles to work, this might be the app for you.
I wish they included driver textbook references so you could double check what you’re learning, but other than that, it’s a good app no matter if you’re a complete beginner or you just want to double check what you know. I’d suggest this one to anyone who’s having trouble finding the motivation to learn.
Get Completely Prepared with DMV Hub
I found DMV Hub to be the most classic one. I think this app is the perfect app for those who want to make sure and pass the test on the first try. With five hundred questions and 19 categories, DMV Hub really does cover just about everything that you need. No matter the topic, you’ll like find it covered by the practice tests in this app. Also, they have audio lessons you can listen while commuting for example.
When I first started, I thought over five hundred questions will be extremely overwhelming. But luckily, the app has a nice little test creator feature where you can customize your own test with only the questions you really need. This comes especially in handy if you already know a lot about, let’s say, street signs, but feel you need more knowledge on pure driving. So yeah, it might not be as fun as the second one, but if you put your mind into it, this app is really helpful.
You might need a bit more time to get used to this one, but that’s only because it has more information than the first two. The only issue I found was that some questions get a bit repetitive. But then again, I can see this coming in handy if you really want to memorize specific parts. I just personally didn’t like it and that’s my subjective opinion, but for some of you, this might be a great plus.
So, these are the best 3 apps I found. Learning to drive properly is extremely important, both for you and your fellow drivers. I sincerely hope the apps I found will help you pass the test and become a full-fledged driver! If you find better apps, please let me know.
